Salihu Yakasai, a former Director-General of Media and Communications for ex-Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, has left the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the African Democratic Congress, ADC.

Yakasai announced his defection in a statement posted on his Facebook page on Monday.

He stated that the decision followed extensive consultations with family, friends, and political associates.

He said, “After talking to family and friends and other political activists, we have decided to join the ADC Party New Journey.

“I have already given my letter to leave APC and completed the registration in our new party ADC.

“Those interested in joining the ADC party can register through the party’s link and will shortly receive their membership card.

“We pray to God that this is the best, and may the ADC set up a government that is strong and powerful, and may it bring blessings to all Nigerians. Amen.”

Yakasai had left the APC in 2022 for the Peoples Redemption Party, where he ran for governor in the 2023 election, but later returned to the ruling party.

His switch to the ADC is coming as the party is becoming stronger. Nine senators from different parties recently joined the the ADC, raising the profile of the opposition party as the 2027 general elections get closer.
