The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has stated its intention to resist any attempts to import the internal conflicts associated with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) into its organization.

In reference to the political turmoil currently affecting the state, Nwuju linked the tensions to events that took place while the key players were still members of the PDP, starting in October 2023.
He stated that the APC would resist any attempts to transfer what he called the "spirit" of the PDP crisis into the ruling party.
He remarked: “Let me clarify this for those who may doubt the determination of the APC in Rivers State to ensure that the current government is not destabilized.
“They can take this to the bank: we will not accept, align with, or cater to the desires of any external force that attempts to disrupt the government of Rivers State.
“As we clearly stated in our announcement yesterday, this governor is not merely a member of the All Progressives Congress; as it stands today, he is the leader of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State.
“Now, you may recall the series of events that have unfolded in Rivers State, which occurred when they were members of the Peoples Democratic Party, starting from October 13, 2023. We firmly believe that this should not spill over into the APC.
“The spirit of the PDP cannot be transferred into the APC. We will resist it. We reject it. And any disruptive force that tries to destabilize our party and the leadership of the Governor of Rivers State will be met with all necessary resistance. This is not an emotional issue.”
