A FAMILY has honored a ‘remarkable’ young man who tragically passed away after entering a river just days before Christmas.

Luke Haffield, 20, lost his life after entering the River Avon in Tewkesbury last month.

In an emotional tribute, his family expressed that he was “a beautiful soul who impacted the lives of many with his kindness and will leave an everlasting impression on all who knew him.”

Luke entered the water in the Mythe Road area on Friday, December 19.

A frantic search was initiated, but unfortunately, his body was discovered and recovered on December 27.

In a statement, Luke’s family shared: “Our family is profoundly shocked and utterly heartbroken by the loss of our beloved son and dedicated brother in such a tragic incident.

“He was a wonderful young man with a compassionate and thoughtful nature, and this devastating tragedy will leave a significant void in the hearts of the countless individuals who were lucky enough to have known him.

“We are incredibly proud of the young man he had become. He was two years into his Engineering apprenticeship with Moog and was an enthusiastic sportsman, having played football, hockey, and cricket in his youth, as well as golf, darts, and padel more recently.

“He will forever be our ‘Lukey’. Rest in peace, our beautiful boy. You will never be forgotten.”
