The cast includes Gary, who portrayed football star Kyle Pascoe.

Gary, now 43, stated: “We are working on bringing it back, but it may take on a slightly different format. I can't reveal too much at this moment.

“However, I won't be playing a footballer in it since I'm too old for that. But I will definitely be involved in some capacity.

“We had a fantastic time filming it; it was incredibly enjoyable. Footballers used to approach us and say they watched the show, but that's less common now. It has been a long time since then.”

Earlier this year, Gary suggested the idea of a reboot, saying: “I genuinely believe it would be a huge success.

“It would offer something fresh. People loved it. It was pure escapism. You could just watch it and forget about the chaos happening in real life, you know?”

Footballers' Wives was an indulgent series filled with glamour, champagne, and outrageous storylines that aired for five seasons from 2002 to 2006.

It experienced a revival in popularity after being streamed on various platforms.

The original cast featured Susie Amy as Gary’s on-screen wife Chardonnay, along with Zoe Lucker, Cristian Solimeno, Katharine Monaghan, Nathan Constance, and EastEnders’ Gillian Taylforth.

There were also appearances by real footballers, as well as various celebrities.
