The visitors had a mountain to climb after losing 3-0 in last week’s first leg at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium.
And an away fan tried to wind Nottingham’s players and supporters up as he attended the game with a Derby shirt hidden under a jersey.
The camera caught him showing the kit he wore underneath during the match.
That was a reference to the heated East Midlands , which intensified in 1975 when legendary manager Brian Clough took over Forest after a successful six-year stint with the Rams, where he won the First Division.
Clough went on to enjoy immense success with the Tricky Trees as well as he won the league in 1978 and two consecutive European Cups until his departure in 1993.
The two sides haven’t faced off since 2022 in the Championship as returned to the Premier League that year, while Derby remain in the second division.
Football fans noticed the away supporter’s antics and took to social media.
One fan tweeted: “Doing that inside the away end is basically undercover trolling.”
Another commented: “Fenerbahçe on the surface, Derby County in the closet.”
A third wrote: “Undercover job…”
This fan said: “Classic away-day plot twist.”
And that one added: “I see what he did there…”
Forest, though, had the last laugh as they punched their ticket to the Europa League’s Last 16 despite losing 2-1 during a heated evening that also saw Fenerbahce fans throwing flares on the pitch and .
