The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has announced that the relocation of Apo mechanics traders to their new site has officially begun.

Wike made this statement during the inauguration of the construction of the main carriageways of the Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX), from Ring Road I Junction to Ring Road II Junction along Wasa Road, near Shoprite Junction in the Apo area of the FCT.

He indicated that the initiation of this process signifies that all commitments made to the people of the FCT will be honored.

The Minister emphasized efforts to alleviate traffic congestion, stating, “From the Apo junction to the Waasa junction, we promised that, with the grace of God and the approval of Mr. President, we aim to ease the heavy traffic in this area by dualizing this road.

“That promise has been made, and today, to the glory of God, we are fulfilling it.

“I also mentioned to the Apo traders that we would relocate them to their new site. I am pleased to announce today that we have received the cost estimate for infrastructure from the Executive Secretary of FCDA to develop the new site they will be moving to.

“For us, every promise made by this administration, under the leadership of Mr. President, will be fulfilled for the people of the FCT.

“You will agree that this road is crucial; in fact, before the completion of the Apo junction to Wassa route, it was difficult to imagine how many hours it would take to enter the city. However, I thank God that we are doing everything possible to bring the happiness that the people of the FCT desire.

The Minister noted that the development of infrastructure projects in the FCT is a reflection of President Bola Tinubu’s purposeful and decisive leadership.

He remarked that he is setting a standard for future Ministers to follow.

“Everyone is discussing projects in the FCT; was he the first president in this country? No. When you have the right leadership, you will witness significant changes.

“What we see today in the FCT is a result of Mr. President's effective leadership, as we aim to establish a standard that anyone appointed must adhere to. We are particularly grateful to him for the positive impact felt by the people of the FCT,” he stated.

Wike also revealed plans to collaborate with former Super Eagles captain, Joseph Yobo, for the benefit of Abuja youths.

“I want to thank my brother Joseph Yobo, the former captain of the Super Eagles, who has come here to support us alongside other leaders from Rivers State.

“We commend your efforts and will explore ways to partner with you in the interest of the youth in Abuja,” he added.
