Police Chief Daniel Comeaux confirmed to reporters that four people were killed and over a dozen wounded in the separate incidents.

One individual was revived at one of the scenes by an officer performing life-saving measures, Comeaux said, as he praised the quick actions of his staff.

“The officers did a really amazing job by response times and getting to the scenes immediately and talking to officers and individuals out here,” he said.

Officials told CBS News Texas that gunfire first erupted at a convenience store where five people were shot in the parking lot.

Cops were only two blocks away from this first scene and were able to attend quickly, the police chief confirmed.

Just minutes later, bullets started flying in another part of the neighborhood where three people died.

The third shooting took place just minutes after that and one person was pronounced dead.

Investigators are working to determine if any of the shootings are connected.

“This is a really big scene and it’s spread out,” Chief Comeaux said, adding that several people are being interviewed about the three incidents.

He noted that the true number of victims could be higher as a number of people took themselves to get treatment rather than wait for first responders.

Investigators are now combing all scenes for evidence and appealing to the public for any footage or witnesses to what happened.

Comeaux confirmed that witnesses are being interviewed and multiple people have been arrested while the search continues for more suspects.

“This is completely unacceptable for it to take place in Dallas and we’re gonna do everything that we need to do to get everyone in custody that’s responsible for this,” he told reporters.

The neighborhood was shutdown by officers around 1am as the public were ordered to disperse.

Deep Ellum is a hugely popular part of Dallas for its vibrant nightlife and will have been busier than usual for Halloween celebrations.
