The 31-year-old was dropped within the first 15 seconds of the fight and had to withstand a barrage just to take the contest into round two.

Thousands within the 02 chanted “Oh ” in a bid to rouse their man.

But as the beating continued, footage captured by SunSport shows Davison demanding the towel be thrown in in order to protect his fighter.

Wardley’s beating came just five-and-a-half months after his epic first battle with Dubois.

After his defeat, classy Wardley told DAZN: “It’s never fun to lose. It is what it is, I’ve always thrown myself in with the biggest, toughest, meanest guys around, there’s no shame in testing yourself against the best.

“Daniel is testament to coming again and I’ll come again.

“You come with a game plan, try to adjust things and it didn’t work tonight. It’s credit to Daniel of how well he prepared.”
