IN the UK, 96 per cent of adults don’t reach their recommended 30g daily fibre intake – which is madness as an extra 5g a day can help lower blood pressure, reduce inflammation and decrease the risk of cardiovascular disease and early death.
High-fibre diets significantly reduce bowel cancer risk, too. Fruit and veg, pulses and seeds are all fibre-packed, and so are these new products . . .

KETCHUP
YES, that’s right. Tommy K! New brand Gut & Glory has developed fibre-packed sauces and two dollops gives 25 per cent of your recommended daily amount.
The ketchup has 66 per cent tomatoes, 23 per cent chicory root fibre, plus cider vinegar, water, salt, spices, dried seaweed powder and vitamins A, K2, D, B12 and selenium.
It is 23 per cent fibre. So you can let kids go wild without getting too much sugar and additives.
It also tastes great and, thankfully, there isn’t a hint of the seaweed powder. The only downside is the cost.

BREAD

THIS is my new go to bread. It’s sourdough and fibre mixed into one.
Jason’s Sourdough has just launched three new products in their “Bread with Benefits” range including a fibre one.
There are two different sliced loaves – a Mindful one and a Seeded one. But what I really loved is their Everyday Seeded Fibre Rolls.
I thought these may be a bit heavy and dense with a mix of sunflower seeds, golden linseed, poppy seeds, and pumpkin seeds.
But actually they’re really soft and fluffy.
Each roll has 8g of fibre and 203 calories.
It’s great to have a product that you know is good for you and you can add to your shopping basket without worrying about being utterly ripped off.
Four-pack at Tesco is £1.70. See jasonssourdough.co.uk
SMOOTHIES

UNROOTED make products using African baobab fruit.
Weight for weight, it has seven times more fibre than oats, six times more vitamin C than oranges, six times more potassium than bananas and twice the antioxidants of acai.
These 150g pouches of Good Morning Breakfast Smoothie peach, ginger and baobab have just 63 calories, but 6g of fibre.
This has a nice flavour with a warming kick from the ginger, plus nearly a quarter of your recommended daily Vitamin C, D and calcium.
There is lots of sugar, but it is natural from the peach, apple puree, orange juice and white grape juice concentrate.
I love that you don’t have to keep these in the fridge and I can confirm fussy kids love them, too!
