He is now with Salford City until the end of the season after departing from Sampdoria.

Since then, he has also connected with Ed Woodward.

Now, Borini has opened up about his new life operating a padel club in the local community.

The experienced player owns Padel 16, a venue where sports enthusiasts can enjoy the increasingly popular game.

One notable figure expected to visit is Manchester City goalkeeper and fellow Italian Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Borini mentioned to the Times : “He’ll likely come for a game, but it’s quite challenging to lob him, just as it is to score against him.

“My wife has reached out to his wife to assist them, offering tips on where to live, which we appreciated when others did the same for us.

“We understand how tough it can be, especially for someone like Gigio, whom I know fairly well.

“He can be shy, even though he appears to be a big guy; he doesn’t speak much English.

“It's challenging to relocate, and being part of the team right away leaves you with less time to manage everything else.

“So my wife has handled a lot of the details, but I will invite them over for some fine wine.

“He knows he’s welcome at my place for delicious Italian cuisine.”
