The Commissioner of Police in Bauchi State, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has cautioned police officers in the state against engaging in extortion, bribery, and any form of illegal demands from the public.

This warning was issued in a press statement on Monday by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, following a routine briefing with department heads and tactical commanders at the Command Headquarters.

The Police Commissioner emphasized that the primary responsibility of officers is to safeguard lives and property, while performing their duties with integrity, professionalism, and respect for human rights.

CP Aliyu warned officers against soliciting money under the guise of granting bail or for any other purpose, reiterating that bail is free of charge.

He also instructed senior officers to closely monitor their teams to prevent actions that could undermine public confidence in the police.

Furthermore, he urged officers to conduct thorough planning and intelligence assessments prior to any operation to ensure safety and effective law enforcement.

He assured the public that the Command maintains a zero tolerance policy towards corruption, stating that any officer found guilty of misconduct will face sanctions in line with legal and police regulations.

The Police Commissioner encouraged community members to report any instances of police misconduct through official channels for immediate action.
