Leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State on Thursday formally welcomed businessman and philanthropist, King Adah Mohamed Usman, popularly known as Ochacho, into the party.
The reception, held at Ochacho’s residence in Otukpo, drew key party leaders, including the Executive Chairman of Otukpo Local Government Council, Hon. Prince Maxwell Ogiri, who led other APC stalwarts to receive the new entrant.
Ochacho was led into the APC by his younger brother, Hon. Alex Enokela Ogbe, the 2023 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) House of Representatives candidate for Otukpo/Ohimini Federal Constituency, who had earlier defected to the ruling party.
Addressing party members during the event, Ogiri described Ochacho’s entry into the APC as a major gain for the party in Otukpo and the state at large.
He expressed confidence that his grassroots influence and commitment to community development would further strengthen the party’s structure and unity.
According to the council chairman, the APC remains open to progressive-minded individuals who are ready to contribute to the growth, stability, and advancement of Benue State.
He noted that Ochacho’s decision to join the party reflects growing confidence in the APC’s leadership and direction.
Ogiri commended Ogbe for leading the realtor into the ruling party and assured him of a level playing ground for all members within the APC.
Speaking at the gathering, Ochacho said his decision was driven by his desire to align with a platform he believes can better deliver development to the people of Otukpo and beyond.
He emphasized his longstanding commitment to youth empowerment, infrastructure development, and policies that directly impact local communities.
On his part, Ogbe added: “Today, I came home to connect with family and APC members here in Otukpo to share and introduce the appointment I’ve received from His Excellency, the President and Grand Patron, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and our Patron, Barrister Sheyi Tinubu, as the State Coordinator of Benue State for the City Boys Movement.
“The City Boys Movement is a youth-focused initiative aimed at galvanizing and empowering young people, mobilizing them across all 36 states in Nigeria, and creating a strong platform for youth participation in shaping the future. Our goal is unity in Benue and to address pressing challenges, including insecurity.
“If young people have not been heard before, this appointment gives me the opportunity to address that. Through this role, I plan to build grassroots structures, identify problems at the local level, and work to solve as many as possible.
“We will give youths a voice, especially on pressing issues like insecurity, which is more pronounced in some areas. Young people are capable, resilient, and not only able to fight for themselves but also able to speak out for the community.”
DAILY POST reports that ahead of the 2027 general elections, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been rallying support from socialites and celebrities through the City Boys’ Movement.
