Former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State, Alhaji Babatunde Mohammed, has announced his resignation from the party, according to DAILY POST.

In a phone conversation with DAILY POST in Ilorin on Saturday, Mohammed revealed his intention to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The former Speaker, recognized as a dedicated supporter of ex-Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki, stated that he has made significant contributions to his previous party, having been a member since 2002.

Mohammed, who held the position of Speaker of the State House of Assembly from 2009 to 2011 under the PDP banner, expressed that his former party had lost hope, prompting his decision to leave.

He mentioned that while others, including PDP leaders in the state, have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the past, he chose to stay loyal to the PDP.

The former Speaker, in his resignation letter dated October 15, 2025, which was sent to DAILY POST and addressed to the party chairman of Agunjin Ward in the Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state, cited personal reasons for his departure from the party.
