EVERTON fans are not known for their chirpiness.
Scouse vocal chords have been strained from all the booing at Goodison Park, and more recently Hill Dickinson Stadium, in recent years.

And one damning table suggests that they are more than entitled to be frustrated.
Playfully termed the ‘English Misery League’, statisticians have pulled together standings for the length of time each team has, in essence, achieved nothing.
No trophies lifted, no promotions to celebrate.
The simple fact is, have effectively achieved nothing since their win in 1995.
In the 31 years since, they have remained in the Premier League and been on one Wembley run – the 2009 FA Cup final, which they lost to .
And incredibly, NO other team in the ’92’ – the number of sides making up England‘s top four divisions – is currently on a longer barren streak.
Fourth-tier , managed by Danny Cowley, have waited 20 years for something – anything – to celebrate since they were promoted from in 2006, with ‘s Walsall waiting 19 years.
But Everton have both of them pipped by more than a decade.

It is tough to take for proud fans of a club that won league titles in the 1960s and was one of the best teams in Europe in the mid-eighties.
brought the Toffees stability and helped them punch above their weight between 2002 and 2013.
The more-than-steady work done by Moyes on Merseyside earned him the job, replacing Sir Alex Ferguson – which did not go well.
A succession of other top bosses have been chewed up and spat out by Everton since.
, , , , , , and have all come and gone in the last 13 years, paving the way for Moyes’ return.
And it has been a bumpy ride.
The appointment of celebrated ex-Liverpool boss Benitez in 2021 was a bitter pill to swallow for fans just after the legendary Ancelotti was lured back to .
Benitez oversaw a humiliating 5-2 defeat at home to Watford four months after arriving.
The club were docked points in 2023/24 for breaking financial rules.
And there have been multiple brushes with relegation, which would have been disastrous with a spanking new stadium in the works.

Current owners The Friedkin Group have put Everton up for sale less than two years after buying it.
That can, at least, allow the Toffees to dream of brighter days ahead if ambitious new chiefs are up for the challenge.
And a crumb of comfort can be taken from the fact that others outside of the ’92’ have it even worse.
Gainsborough Trinity, formed in 1873, have astonishingly been waiting 153 to achieve ANYTHING, while Ashington and Stalybridge Celtic – both more than a century old – are also still praying for their first winning moment.
