EIGHT passengers have been rushed to hospital after horror turbulence hit a New York-bound plane, forcing an emergency landing.

The Avianca aircraft plunged 25,000 ft yesterday after striking an area of bad turbulence just three hours into the flight from Medellin, Colombia.

Multiple passengers were injured with eight people rushed to hospital after the plane made its unexpected landing at Miami International Airport.

Ambulances were already waiting on the tarmac when the plane landed.

Maria Paula Jimenez, a passenger, told CBS Miami : “When we arrived, when we landed, we saw that very close to where we were going to disembark, there were more than five or six ambulances.

“Seven of them with their lights on as if they were waiting for something. When we arrived, well, you know, it wasn’t normal.”

The extend of the eight patients injuries have not been disclosed.
