Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has heaped plaudits on Kelechi Iheanacho for his impressive display in the club’s draw with Red Star Belgrade, DAILY POST reports.
The Scottish Premiership champions were held to a 1-1 draw by the Hoops in their UEFA Europa League clash on Wednesday night.
Iheanacho took the place of Daizen Maeda after the break.
The Nigeria international gave the Hoops the lead in the 55th minute.
The 28-year-old had two other chances in the game but was denied by Red Star Belgrade’s goalkeeper.
Marko Arnautovic levelled for the host in the 65th minute.
“I thought Kels coming in was very, very good for us,” Rodgers told BT Sport.
“We needed someone centrally to hold the ball up. I felt that we arrived into the final third in the first half and then we were either loose with the ball or didn’t hold the ball up.”
Iheanacho has registered two goals, and one assist in three appearances across all competitions for Celtic.
