Arsenal failed to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table to nine points, after they played out a 0-0 draw at Nottingham Forest in Saturday’s late kick-off.
The Gunners travelled to the Forest Ground six points clear, after Manchester City lost 2-0 to Manchester United in the lunchtime kick-off.
Mikel Arteta’s men knew that a win will establish a big gap between them and City.
However, Gabriel Martinelli missed the chance to open the scoring in the first half, while Bukayo Saka saw his header saved by Mat Selz in the second half.
Arsenal also saw a late Ola Aina handball shout dismissed by VAR.
The result means their lead at the summit is now seven points, ahead of the visit of Manchester United next week.
