Former Chelsea star, Joe Cole has slammed the video assistant referee in the Blues’ 2-0 win over Fulham after Josh King’s goal was disallowed.

Chelsea beat Fulham 2-0 in Saturday’s west London derby.

Fulham thought they had taken the lead through their teenage forward, Josh King in the first half but referee Rob Jones’ attention was called by the VAR who ordered to review the goal on the touchline monitor.

Leading to the goal, Fulham attacker, Rodrigo Muniz won possession ahead of Chelsea defender, Trevoh Chalobah, but the Brazil striker had unwittingly stood on his opponent’s foot.

The referee then disallowed the goal,, much to the disdain of Cole.

Cole said on TNT Sport,

“I don’t like it in football when you’re chalking off goals for that. It makes it too sanitised.”

The game ended 2-0 in favour of the Blues with Joao Pedro and Enzo Fernandez scoring for Chelsea to give them two wins and a draw in their first three games of the season.
