EPL: It’ll take time for Delap to adapt at Chelsea – Cole warns

Published on June 27, 2025 at 05:59 PM

Ashley Cole, a former Chelsea defender, has warned that it will take time for the Blues’ summer signing, Liam Delap, to adapt to the playing style at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea bought Delap from Championship club Ipswich Town for 30 million pounds.

The 22-year-old striker recently scored his first goal for the Blues in their 3-0 win against ES Tunis in the Club World Cup earlier this week.

“[I have been] working with Liam Delap both on-and-off for about two years,”; Cole said (via Metro).

“He’s a great lad, enthusiastic and he wants to learn, get to the next level [in his career].

“I think it’ll take time for Delap to develop and adapt to the way Chelsea want to play.”;

Delap, who attracted interest from several clubs before deciding to join Chelsea this summer, scored 12 Premier League goals for Ipswich Town last term.
