EPL: ‘He’s too cold’ – Alex Iwobi reveals why Arsenal’s Saka wouldn’t make Ballon d’Or list

Published on May 20, 2025 at 07:34 PM

Fulham midfielder, Alex Iwobi, has said that Arsenal winger, Bukayo Saka, might have contended for the 2025 Ballon d’Or if not for his injury setback.

Iwobi, a Nigerian international, praised the winger for what the England international is doing with the Gunners.

The former Everton man talked about Saka during a discussion on Inside Scoop.

Iwobi left Arsenal for Everton in 2019 after the Gunners sold him in order to raise their profit. Saka was promoted to Arsenal’s senior team in 2018.

Iwobi noted that one of the things that has helped his former teammate is that he listens, is humble, and always ready to learn.

“I think that’s really what’s helped him,”;; the Fulham midfielder said.

“I think if he didn’t get injured, he’d potentially be a Ballon d’Or nominee. I think the sky is the limit, man. He’s too cold.”;;

Saka has spent his entire first-team club career with the Gunners, winning an FA Cup and two FA Community Shields.

Following both the 2020–21 and 2021–22 seasons, he was named as Arsenal’s Player of the Season.

This season, he was one of Arsenal’s standout attackers, despite injury worries.

If Arsenal had won the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League this season, the winger’s chances of winning the Ballon d’Or would have heightened.
