Liverpool manager, Arne Slot, has revealed his contingency plans for the period Mohamed Salah will be away at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON.

The next AFCON will be played in Morocco between December 2025 and January 2026.

Salah is almost certain to play for Egypt at the competition.

Slot has now said that new arrival from Bayer Leverkusen, Jeremie Frimpong, could step up on the right wing.

He said: “We brought in Frimpong as he can play right-back and right-winger.

“We thought about the fact we are going to miss Mo (Salah) for six Premier League games maximum during AFCON, which is quite a lot when you consider how well he did last season.”

Salah scored 28 goals and registered 18 assists in 37 top-flight games to help Liverpol win their second title in three seasons.
