A technology expert and Chief Executive Officer of Owllup, Chimobi Anyanwu, has said that it is technology, not government, that will solve Nigeria’s economic and insecurity problems.

Anyanwu made the assertion in an interview with DAILY POST in Abuja on Saturday.

Speaking on the challenges Nigeria is grappling with, he noted that technology backed with ideas and funding would be a lasting panacea to the country’s problems.

He said, “For example, today our youths hardly participate in politics, which makes the decisions that affect our collective lives.

“Some youths don’t have voters’ cards, nor do they know their local government, despite development starting from the grassroots. So the platform is circled around empowerment and human development. It is a community-centric platform. That is built around interest from the grassroots to the federal level.

“We have ideas in Nigeria. It is not only the government that develops the society. Technology does not need government but ideas and funding.

“Data from the platform will help in tackling insecurity, unemployment, and societal development.”

DAILY POST reports that the Information and Communications Technology sector is a major contributor to the country’s rebased Gross Domestic Product, which stood at N372.8 trillion in 2024.
