Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has initiated the APC membership e-registration, promising to establish a base of two million members throughout the state.
While addressing attendees in Owo, Nkanu East Local Government Area, on Thursday, Mbah declared that the time of disjointed politics, which has hindered Enugu from receiving federal benefits, is now behind us.
He referred to this initiative as a pivotal moment, solidifying the transition of the state from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress.
“Just over two and a half months ago, we opted for partnership and progress. The era of disjointed politics is finished.
“We no longer wish to remain on the sidelines. We want to be at the forefront and engage in influential politics,” he stated.
Mbah emphasized that Enugu must provide substantial political support to ensure fair treatment from the federal government.
“We cannot contribute five percent and expect to receive the same treatment as those who contribute 95 percent. We have a responsibility to change that,” he noted.
The governor indicated that the goal is to register a minimum of two million members across the state.
“This movement is not solely about Peter Mbah or the government. It is comprehensive and requires effort in every household, not just within communities,” the governor stated.
He asserted that clarity in political alignment is crucial at all levels of governance. “We are APC in the morning, APC in the afternoon, and APC at night,” Mbah proclaimed.
He clarified that the movement to the APC in October 2025 is not intended to displace current members but to fortify the party for the benefit of Enugu.
He added that President Bola Tinubu’s initiatives would increasingly benefit grassroots communities.
“The Renewed Hope Ward Development Programme will directly empower over 8.8 million individuals.
“Additionally, around 40 million people are anticipated to be lifted out of poverty indirectly,” he stated.
He mentioned that the programme would ensure that macroeconomic advancements reach households and communities.
“This programme addresses concerns about benefits reaching the grassroots level,” Mbah emphasized.
Deputy National Chairman (South), Chief Emma Eneukwu, indicated that the e-registration aims to modernize the party’s database.
“The party has conducted registrations in the past, but this represents a new approach. This time, we are following Governor Mbah's lead by adopting modern electronic systems,” he said.
Eneukwu noted that e-registration would yield precise data on voting strength, highlighting that registrants must provide their National Identification Number (NIN).
Dr. Ben Nwoye, the APC caretaker chairman in Enugu, remarked that this initiative would realign the party with the political realities of the 21st century.
