The youth wing of the leading Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, has characterized the recent actions of the Nigerian Government regarding the release of former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, as heartwarming.
The National President of the organization, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, expressed this in a statement made available to journalists on Thursday in Enugu.
Okwu noted that the Ohanaeze youths had made multiple attempts to gain the attention of the former president, the late Muhammadu Buhari, for the same cause, but the government showed little interest.
He expressed his happiness that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is taking steps to facilitate Ekweremadu's return to Nigeria.
DAILY POST recalls that President Tinubu’s delegation, led by Foreign Affairs Minister Yusuf Tuggar, has begun discussions with the authorities in the United Kingdom regarding the possibility of transferring Ekweremadu back to Nigeria to serve the remainder of his prison sentence. Read more
