The terrifying shooting unfolded near Surf Ave, Coney Island, near the boardwalk where a fireworks display had taken place at 9:45pm, police say.

The victims include four boys aged 14, 12, seven, and six, two men aged 37 and 33, and two women aged 25 and 21.

The 21-year-old women is in critical condition, while the other seven victims are said to be stable.

Dramatic footage showed police swarming the scene outside Seapark Apartments – at several points holding wounded kids.

A deli worker on the corner told the New York Post: “When I see in the camera I see the cops running with the kids in their hands.

“When I went out I saw one kid was going into the ambulance and I was told there were four inside.”

It is unclear how many suspects there are or why the individual or group decided to open fire.

A local called Mackenzie said: “It’s so sad they won’t enjoy themselves without them killing each other.

“This building is always partying. I came home to have fun and now this. This building always has some trouble.”
