The Edo State chapter of Labour Party, LP, has condemned the alleged assault on the party’s National Chairman, Julius Abure, by Ms Precious Oruche, Alias ‘Mama P’, on Saturday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, and the Benin Airport.

DAILY POST reports that the Edo State LP chairman, Elizabeth Ativie, and members of the party condemned the attack at a press conference in Benin City on Monday.

Ativie, a former Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, who addressed the press, alleged that the said Precious Oruche was working for Abure’s detractors.

“Due to the last weekend’s physical attack on the National Chairman of the Labour Party, Barrister Julius Abure by a lady believed to be working for our political detractors, it has become imperative for the leadership of the Labour Party in Edo State to condemn the attack and to also clear the air on some of those spurious allegations she made against our party and our national Chairman.

“As reported in several media, the lady, Ms Precious Oruche, Alias ‘Mama P’ attacked Barrister Abure while on a queue at the tarmac of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport Abuja, boarding a Max Air flight en-route Benin.

“The lady, a known skit-maker and content creator continued the attack all through the duration of the flight, defying all attempts by the Max Air flight attendants to calm her.

“She was also reported to have intensified the assault at the Benin Airport after the disembarkation, attracting hundreds of onlookers and travellers with the sole aim to humiliate and embarrass our National Chairman.

“She also recorded most of the scenes which she uploaded to her various social media accounts with the intent to ridicule our leader and our party.

“While the assault ensued, the lady in her posts made some false allegations against Barrister Abure and the Labour Party leadership,” Ativie said.

She vowed that the party would not allow itself or its leaders to be intimidated or humiliated by any individual or persons, no matter how highly connected.

While stating that Ms Precious Oruche has clearly crossed the line, Ativie added that the party would be seeking legal action.

The Edo LP chairman, who noted that the nation’s democracy must be protected, added that actions designed to turn Nigeria into a lawless state must not be allowed to flourish.

She noted that character assassination, assault and cyber-bullying are severe crimes and urged the police to fish out Ms Precious Oruche sponsors and cohorts, and bring them to book.
