EA has announced the closure of the beloved The Sims Mobile game after more than seven years.

The franchise has achieved tremendous success, attracting millions of players worldwide since it first launched in 2000.

In the smartphone era, the gaming giant launched The Sims Mobile in March 2018.

This version retains the popular format of constructing and developing homes and neighborhoods, incorporating multiplayer and storytelling elements as well.

Additionally, there are special events and the option to purchase in-app items.

The Sims Mobile has been downloaded over 50 million times according to Play data.

Unfortunately, the game will be shutting down early next year, and fans will lose certain features before that date, within just a few hours.

The game will be removed from both the Google Play Store and the App Store later today, meaning that anyone who hasn’t already downloaded it will be unable to do so.

Players will also no longer be able to purchase packs or spend real money within the game.

On January 6, all Build Mode and Create A Sim (CAS) items will be unlocked for every player at no cost, allowing everyone one last opportunity to fully experience the game.

Finally, the service will conclude on January 20, when the servers will shut down, rendering The Sims Mobile unplayable.

“We want to express our gratitude,” EA stated.

“The Sims Mobile and the entire Sims community are filled with creativity, kindness, and imagination.

“You’ve inspired us with your stories, creations, and Sims.

“We’re proud to have shared this journey with you, and as a token of our appreciation, we’ve prepared a few surprises as we approach TSM’s final chapter.”

Several events will continue to take place from now until the closure, including New Year’s treats.

While the mobile game is ending, the main title remains strong and will continue as usual.

Project Rene Rumors

This decision may not come as a shock to fans, especially with discussions surrounding a secret “Project Rene” as the next significant potential release for The Sims.

Although EA has publicly acknowledged its existence, little information is currently available about Project Rene.

Small-scale private testing began back in 2022, but there have been few updates regarding the status of the next iteration.

What we do know is that it is not The Sims 5; instead, it will be a new multiplayer online spin-off, compatible across various platforms.
