GAMERS have a double bill of potential blockbuster announcements to look forward to, with two PlayStation “State of Play” broadcasts running back to back this week.

State of Play first launched in March 2019 as a recurring PlayStation video programme featuring new game announcements, trailers and gameplay, and Sony has since run several editions a year.

What time is State of Play in the UK?

State of Play kicks off at 2pm BST on Thursday, September 3.

Immediately following that, Sony will broadcast State of Play , showcasing the latest news from the Land of the Rising Sun.

A recent State of Play showcase in June ran to more than an hour, while a similar broadcast had a running time of over 35 minutes.

How to watch State of Play

Both broadcasts will stream live on PlayStation’s official YouTube and Twitch channels.

The main State of Play will air in English with Japanese subtitles, while State of Play Japan will be presented in Japanese with English subtitles.

Popular anime voice actor and singer Yuki Kaji returns to host the Japan-focused show, digging into upcoming games from studios across the region.

Sony has warned streamers that the broadcasts may contain copyrighted material, such as licensed music, which could interfere with co-streams or archived videos.

What games will be at State of Play?

Sony has confirmed only one title that will be making an appearance as part of the upcoming State of Play broadcasts so far.

The first broadcast will close with an extended look at VII Revelation from Square Enix.

Beyond that, Sony has promised updates and announcements from PlayStation Studios and its third-party partners without saying which other games will feature.

On August 18, 2026, there was a special standalone State of Play devoted entirely to Phantom Blade Zero, featuring nearly 20 minutes of gameplay.

June’s State of Play announced Laufey and Until Dawn 2, revealed fresh gameplay from ‘s Wolverine, and confirmed a release date for Control Resonant.

Whether this week’s double bill delivers any major surprises won’t be clear until it gets underway at 2pm on Thursday.
