Jessica Lawson “lost it” when officers arrived at her house in Sandwich, , at 2am on February 4.
The 34-year-old who lives with her four children – including a six month old baby – and her mother, was arguing with her partner in the early hours of the morning.
Neighbours grew concerned so called the .
When officers arrived at the scene, Lawson, who was drunk at the time, was told to leave the property with her mother and , but she refused and her partner was instructed to go instead.
He was handed the baby to say goodbye but would not give the child back.
While Lawson appeared before in on April 10, prosecutor Lucie Fish said: “He wouldn’t hand the baby back, and she was concerned she would be assaulted while he was holding the baby.”
As tensions escalated, Lawson “went mad” and kicked one officer before .
“She put her hand on the right side of [the officer’s] neck and then with the other hand grabbed her face and pushed her acrylic nails into her skin and then upwards in a gouging motion,” added the prosecutor.
“She was pushed off but continued to kick and lash out, and as she was handcuffed, she tried to bite their arms.”
When officers tried to restrain her, she slipped out of the handcuffs, shouting and screaming, before .
The female cop was left with cuts on her face and blood dripping down her cheeks.
Fish said: “There was blood trickling from [the female cop’s] face, and she fell to her knees.
“She said Lawson took a strong dislike to her.”
Fish added that the offences were aggravated by the fact Lawson’s children were present and that she was drunk, but also noted that her partner had “antagonised her.”
In a victim impact statement, the officer said she suffered scratches and cuts under her eyes, adding: “My children shouldn’t have to worry (about me).”
Lawson was given a 12-month community order and ordered to complete 100 hours of unpaid work and pay £100 compensation to each officer at a rate of £20 a month.
Defending, Simon Pettican said his client, now single, had been in an abusive relationship and “lost it” over fears for her baby.
“The police bore the brunt of the violence and she just attacked,” he said.
“This man is very dangerous, so she was worried about the six-month-old.
“He was extremely abusive and during the relationship she suffered a fractured cheek. He was very violent towards her.
“She was provoked by this man, and she acted in an inappropriate manner, as a mother in fear.
“There are exceptional circumstances – she went mad because of the baby.”
He added Lawson was taking medication for depression and had no issue with drink or drugs.
