When Bobby Bolton set out to explore the world two years ago, he never anticipated that he would still be traveling or discover the unique places he has.

So far, he has journeyed through 41 countries, and there is one destination he particularly urges travelers to visit, which is far from the typical tourist paths.

Kyrgyzstan is a landlocked nation in Central Asia, characterized by vast mountain ranges and pristine lakes.

It may not be your typical holiday destination, but for those seeking more than just lounging on the beach, it could be the ideal getaway.

In a conversation, Bobby described Kyrgyzstan as resembling a place from 200 years ago, noting that there is little development, yet the scenery is breathtaking.

“You can hike in the mountains and swim in the alpine lakes – it’s truly the best place, and it’s not overrun with tourists due to the lack of infrastructure,” he said.

“It offers raw beauty, and it’s incredibly affordable. The cost of food and fuel is about a third of what you would spend in the UK, which is where most of our budget goes.”

Bobby and his fiancée Marie explored the mountains, where they were welcomed to dine with local horsemen who live sustainably off the land.

They produce their own honey and milk, consume beef from their cattle, and cultivate their own vegetables.

For those traveling like Bobby by truck or car, he mentioned that parking is quite convenient, as you can do so “almost anywhere, by beautiful lakes or at the base of mountains.”

Bobby, who hails from the UK, travels the globe in his large truck and manages to do so on about £35 a day, primarily spending on food and fuel.

Bobby isn't the only one raving about Kyrgyzstan.

Original Travel highlights a growing interest in the country among “savvy travelers looking for unspoiled, off-the-beaten-path destinations.”

Kyrgyzstan shares borders with Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, and is nestled within the Tian Shan mountain range, home to some of the highest peaks in the world, reaching up to 24,400 feet.

Other natural wonders include its alpine lakes, expansive grasslands, and hot springs.

The diverse landscapes host various wildlife, such as snow leopards and Siberian ibex in the high mountains, as well as Tian Shan brown bears in the forests.

The country also supports numerous bird species, including the Himalayan griffon vulture and golden eagles.

One must-see location is Fairytale Canyon, also known as Skazka Canyon, a desert-like area formed from red sandstone.

One visitor commented on social media: “An incredible place to visit in Kyrgyzstan. The scenery is mesmerizing.”
