The immensely popular anime Demon Slayer has done nothing but break records ever since its release back in April 2019.
From its jaw-dropping animation to its moving story about a young boy trying to make sense of a demon-filled world, the anime truly became a force to be reckoned with in the shounen anime genre and its second season comeback is much anticipated.
With its record-shattering film Demon Slayer the Movie: Infinity Train releasing in theatres on April 23, one may have expected season 2 to follow right behind, serving as a continuation from where the film left off.
Unfortunately, for Demon Slayer fans, both the film and the second season will not be released on Netflix in May 2021.
Demon Slayer season 2 release date on Netflix
As of right now, it's pretty hard to say when the second season of Demon Slayer will premiere on Netflix because its movie has yet to release in American theatres and because the anime is not a Netflix original anime.
Demon Slayer is animated by Ufotable Animation Studios in Japan, which means that Netflix users will have to wait until Ufotable is finished creating season two, produces season two, and finally releases season two before the anime releases on the streaming platform.
Additionally, with the first season airing in February 2019, but not releasing on Netflix until a full two years later on January 2021, the second season premiering on Netflix so soon just doesn't seem to be the pattern that Demon Slayer follows.
According to Demon Slayer‘s official Twitter, season 2 will be released sometime in 2021, meaning if history repeats itself, we may not see the second installment on Netflix until late 2022 or early 2023. These are only predictions and may change in the coming months, especially with the popularity of the anime growing by the month.
We know that 2022 or 2023 seems like such a long time from now, but you never know, maybe June 2021 has some good news waiting for us and we won't have to wait as long as we thought.
