On Sunday, gunmen fatally shot Felix Ese Idisi, the acting chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Ethiope-East Local Government Area of Delta State.

At the time of this report, the reasons behind the shooting were still unclear.

In response, former Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Omo-Agege, condemned the killing in a statement on his Facebook page.

Omo-Agege characterized Idisi’s murder as a “barbaric act of violence” and an “assault on democracy and the democratic process in Delta State.”

He stated, “I am shocked and profoundly saddened by the brutal murder of our Acting LGA Chairman in Ethiope East LGA. This act of violence starkly highlights the insecurity and lawlessness that have plagued our state.

“I condemn this atrocious act in the strongest possible terms and urge the Commissioner of Police in Delta State and the Inspector General of Police to leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the perpetrators are brought to justice.

“The individuals who have previously boasted about eliminating their political adversaries within the Local Government Area must be apprehended, prosecuted, and punished for their crimes.

“I want to emphasize that violence is not part of our culture in Delta APC. Our culture is about winning hearts one individual at a time. Those attempting to introduce this malevolent behavior into our party must immediately cease, as we will do everything possible to oppose this unacceptable culture of violence.

“We will not be intimidated or dissuaded by acts of violence and lawlessness. We will persist in our efforts to foster a peaceful and democratic society where the rule of law prevails.”

Senator Omo-Agege extended his condolences to the family, friends, and the APC community in Ethiope East LGA, assuring them that justice will be served. He called on security agencies to take swift action to apprehend the killers and ensure they face the full extent of the law.
