Nigeria’s Minister of Defence and retired General, Christopher Musa, has discussed the significant plots and opposition he encountered during his military career, including his tenure as Chief of Defence Staff (CDS).

Musa mentioned that some individuals within the military believed they had thwarted his advancement and ended his career, but subsequent events proved them mistaken.

He shared these insights at a religious gathering over the weekend, reflecting on his military journey, the challenges he faced, and how his faith supported him during tough times.

According to him, the opposition against him often felt overwhelming, leading his adversaries to believe they had triumphed.

“There were moments when people conspired against me, thinking they had already prevailed. They believed my journey was finished,” Mr. Musa stated.

“However, God had a different plan. What they intended for harm, God transformed into good.”

The defence minister expressed that these experiences taught him patience, resilience, and the significance of relying on faith instead of personal connections, particularly in an environment where competition frequently breeds rivalry.

He emphasized that the conspiracies did not cease early in his career but persisted even after he attained high-ranking leadership positions, including his role as CDS, before retiring from active service.

Mr. Musa encouraged Nigerians, especially aspiring officers and public servants, not to lose hope when faced with challenges, noting that setbacks do not necessarily equate to failure.

“When circumstances don’t align with your expectations and you feel it’s the end, it might just be a redirection. If you remain focused and steadfast, your time will arrive,” he added.

He also indicated that his position as Minister of Defence enables him to continue serving the nation, underscoring his dedication to enhancing Nigeria’s security framework.
