ANOTHER popular toy has been urgently pulled from the shelves over asbestos contamination.

A major UK retailer has recalled three children’s items over the past month.

Sand and Pom Pom Art Kit sold by Hobbycraft has been withdrawn from the stores.

The product does not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005.

The sand included in the set was found to contain traces of asbestos which is a banned substance.

Asbestos can pose a risk to even at low exposure levels.

The art supplies chain has issued an urgent recall and asked customers to stop using the product immediately.

Parents have also been warned to keep the toy out of reach of children.

The recall notice gave instructions on how to dispose of the toy set.

If the sand is still in its packaging, put it in a sturdy plastic bag, firmly double wrap it, mark it properly, and keep it out of children’s reach.

If sand has been used, use wet cloths to wipe up the areas where the product was used to prevent dusting.

Make sure to wear gloves and a mask, and discard everything in a double bag.

For a full refund, send the product’s sand vials back to the Hobbycraft store that is closest to you.

If you can’t get to a store, then dispose of the sand in your general household waste and contact Hobbycraft for a refund.
