THE show hasn’t even aired yet, but the Beeb is so pleased with its latest dating show, it is already preparing a follow-up series.

Stranded On Honeymoon Island , hosted by the delectable Davina McCall , only kicks off tonight on BBC One but bosses are already thrilled with what they have seen.

So work is afoot on a sequel to the contest which could be filmed within months and air later next year.

A TV insider said: “The Beeb has long wanted some kind of dating show that can begin to challenge the dominance of Love Island.

“It doesn’t want the exact same format, just something that can provide a similar kind of tropical, steamy vibe — and bosses think that’s what they’ve got on their hands here.

Feeling confident

“Of course, they’ll wait to see what the audience reaction is, but execs have already cast their eye over early versions of the series and are feeling confident.

“They already seem to want to ‘renew their vows’ with the show.”

Stranded On Honeymoon Island , which will air at 9pm, is centred around a gang of newlyweds as they spend three weeks trying to survive on a deserted beach.

The 12 singles meet for the first time during a speed-dating event, after which match-makers assign them each a spouse.

Later that same day, the six couples then get married at a quayside wedding on the island — and we can expect to see strong signs that they “consummate” their marriages on the show.

But next the couples have to survive together after being marooned in the Philippines for 21 days with just water, electricity, a gazebo and, crucially, one bed.

Let’s just say it’s lucky this goes out after the watershed.

LASSO PITCHES UP IN RICHMOND

THE Ted Lasso crew were reunited on their Richmond home turf this week as filming for the show’s long-awaited fourth season picked up pace.

The South West London town is the setting for the comedy about an American coach, played by Jason Sudeikis , who has been brought in to save an ailing football club.

Jason was pictured wearing his character’s hallmark “sneakers”, chinos and smart sweater, and was accompanied by Brendan Hunt, who plays his best friend and assistant coach Willis Beard.

Also making a reappearance was Mr Mann (Tom Cotcher), a fan who dons the club’s scarf and yells well-meaning abuse at Ted.

All the action seems to be revolving, once more, around Richmond’s famous pub, The Prince’s Head, which has been restyled as The Crown & Anchor for the show.

It is expected there will be a few changes in the new series, which has been going strong on Apple TV+ since 2020.

While favourite stars including Hannah Waddingham , Juno Temple and Brett Goldstein are set to return, many of the storylines will revolve around the development of a woman’s team at AFC Richmond.

OLIVIA: MEET THE NEW BOYS

OLIVIA ATTWOOD has unveiled the string of Bad Boyfriends she will be taming in her new ITV2 series.

They include stripper Akonne, who is rumbled as a wrong ’un in the first episode when he dangles his carrot in a female clubber’s face.

He said: “I really thought I was a good boyfriend!

“But sometimes I do things before I think, like me getting on a stage swinging my thing.”

Elsewhere there is semi-pro footballer Chaynie and his suffering WAG, plus the series’ first gay couple Dillon and Anthony.

Describing how he felt under Olivia’s tough regime, Anthony said: “The only way to describe it is in Twilight Breaking Dawn when the werewolves and vampires are running towards each other.

“It was hectic!”

Olivia Attwood’s Bad Boyfriends starts on September 14.

CORONATION Street actress Maureen Lipman, 79, will marry her fiance, business consultant David Turner, this weekend after proposing on a train last year.

Her Celebrity Gogglebox pal Gyles Brandreth, who will attend, said: “To get married in your 80th year is fantastic.”

ANOTHER TITLE FOR TYSON

NOT content with getting another series of At Home With the Furys on Netflix, Tyson Fury has also bagged himself another show with the streamer.

Fury is described as the “definitive” documentary on the life story of one of Britain’s most high-profile boxers.

Yesterday Netflix promised “full access to the man, his inner circle and exclusive never-seen-before footage”

It added: “Fury tells the intimate and remarkable journey of an extraordinary fighter who, against all expectations, battled through impossible odds to achieve one of the greatest comebacks of all time.”

Sounds like it might be marginally better than his half-brother’s efforts on the BBC Three’s Tommy: The Good. The Bad. The Fury.

SAM ALL YOURS, SINGERS

I CAN reveal the two mentors who will be working with the performers on Channel 4’s Your Song.

They are singers Paloma Faith and Sam Ryder , who both know a thing or two about belting out a tune.

The upcoming show, hosted by Alison Hammond , gives amateurs the chance to deliver a song which has extra special meaning to them.

It’s guaranteed to be tear-jerking stuff, in a similar vein to The Piano, which sees music lovers tinkle the ivories in various locations around the UK.

That show is hosted by Claudia Winkleman and has two judges – Mika and Jon Batiste.

Talking ahead of taking on his new duties, Sam said: “I’m so stoked to be a mentor on Your Song!

“The show is all about celebrating grass-roots talent across the country, and hearing their stories through music, which I can’t wait to encourage and uplift.”

The long-awaited new Knives Out Mystery, Wake Up Dead Man, will be released in selected cinemas in the UK on November 28 and then launch globally on Netflix on December 12.

The drama, starring Daniel Craig as detective Benoit Blanc, will have its UK premiere at the BFI London Film Festival opening night gala on October 8.

PAUL HAS BAGGED OUT ADE

THE Chase star Paul Sinha has branded The Young Ones star Adrian Edmondson as the “biggest douche bag in TV”.

The quizzer claimed that the comic and husband of Jennifer Saunders insulted him at a social event.

Talking on the Bad Boys Done Good podcast, Paul recalled: “I was at an ITV party just a few years ago when somebody was just really rude to me in conversation when I was trying to fan boy him.

“In the end he said to his mate, ‘Does anyone even know who this tw*t is?’ and they walked off laughing.

“I wanted to shout back ‘You’re not even the funniest person in your marriage!’”

Not sure Ade will be top of the list for the next Celebrity version of The Chase.
