The Kano State chapter of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has called on Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to open an investigation into the disappearance of Abubakar Dadiyata, following fresh allegations made by former Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai.

Dadiyata, a social media commentator, was reportedly abducted from his residence in Kaduna in 2019. His whereabouts have remained unknown since then.

Speaking during an interview on Arise News, El-Rufai alleged that Dadiyata was not a critic of the Kaduna State Government but of the Kano State Government under former Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

According to him, “Dadiyata was not a fierce critic of Kaduna State Government; he was a fierce critic of Kano State Government.”

He added that when investigations were carried out at the time, it was gathered that the abductors came from Kano.

Reacting to the claims, the NNPP in Kano in a statement issued on Saturday and signed by Engr. Ibrahim Karaye, Publicity Secretary, the party urged Governor Yusuf to take immediate action.

According to the statement, the matter should not be ignored.

“The governor promised during his campaign that issues of injustice would be addressed,” Karaye said.

Karaye added that any delay in probing the matter could create the impression that politics is being placed above justice.
