The Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, has seized a total of 36,935 litres of petrol allegedly meant for illegal exportation from Adamawa and Taraba states.

The product was packed in 1,219 Jerry cans of different sizes and 24 drums with the varying capacities of 25, 30, 60 and 200 litres.

The Adamawa and Taraba Area Controller of the NCS, Bashir Garba who addressed a press conference on the seizures on Tuesday, said the various consignments of petrol were intended for exportation into the adjacent country, taken to mean the Republuc of Cameroon.

Giving the financial value of the seized petrol during the conference which took place at the NCS Area Command headquarters in Yola, Bashir Garba said, “We are pleased to say that during the reporting period of four weeks, the command had another seizure with the monetary value of N104,456,550.”;;

According to him also, during the reporting period in view, his command seized 101 pieces of raw donkey packed in seven sacks intended to be smuggled out of the country.

“The 101 raw donkey skins seized and presented here today translate to the killing of 101 live donkeys by smugglers,”;; the controller lamented.

Describing this as unfortunate because donkeys are used for many things, he said donkeys should be protected from wanton killings so that they do not go extinct.
