CRIMINALS on probation committed more than 750 murders and sex attacks in the past five years.

The figures, obtained by The Sun on Sunday, show 339 offenders supposedly being monitored by authorities were convicted of murder.

Another 417 — including many with a history of sexual assault — were jailed for serious sex crimes including rape while let out.

In one case, , 35, was sexually assaulted and then murdered as she walked home in Ilford, East London, by , 29, just a week after his release from in June 2022.

He had already missed two appointments with probation staff by the time of the killing and cops had gone to his mum’s home to recall him to jail.

, 32, was jailed in December 2022 for the sleepover murders of three children and his pregnant girlfriend in Killamarsh, Derbyshire, after blunders by probation staff.

, 35, went on a horrific 15-day spree in which he abducted, raped and assaulted 11 victims aged 11 to 71.

A report stated the probation service missed eight opportunities to recall him to jail before he set off on his rampage.

Officials claim serious reoffending is rare and that sex offenders are no longer automatically released on completing half their jail term.

Retired Det Chief Supt Kevin Moore said: “The figures are appalling. To claim this type of serious offending is rare, frankly, does not stack up.”
