Commissioner of Police Umar Ahmed Chuso has been reassigned to Gombe State as the 24th Commissioner of Police, just a few days after he began his duties in Nasarawa State.
The Gombe State Police Command confirmed this update in a statement released by its Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi.
As stated, CP Chuso succeeds CP Bello Yahaya, who has been transferred by the Inspector-General of Police to the Police Staff College in Jos.
Upon taking office in Gombe, Chuso urged residents and key stakeholders to collaborate with the police in combating crime and other social issues in the state.
He emphasized that effective policing relies on public cooperation, highlighting that his administration would focus on community-based policing to improve intelligence gathering and strengthen the relationship between police and the community.
CP Chuso, originally from the Sokoto South Local Government Area of Sokoto State, holds a degree in Agricultural Economics from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1994 and has since established a remarkable career across various commands.
Prior to his reassignment to Gombe, he served as the Commissioner of Police in Nasarawa State. He has also occupied significant roles, including Deputy Commandant of the Police Staff College in Jos, and Deputy Commissioner of Police in Kano and Delta States.
The new police chief has participated in numerous professional training courses both in Nigeria and abroad and is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Police Studies.
