CORONATION Street fans have been left scratching their heads after realising that a building has ‘vanished’ from iconic ITV street.

Viewers have taken to discussion site Reddit to point out that David Platt’s (Jack P. Shepherd) barbershop has gone missing.

David and his brother Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) set up a new barbers called Trim Up North on Victoria Street back in 2019.

But it vanished without a trace after Audrey had to sell it a few years ago – and even the show’s biggest fans have struggled to recall what happened to it.

One confused fan said pointed out on Reddit: “What happened to David’s barbers?”

They added: “I am sure when the set revamped David owned a trendy barbers? Did I make that up in my head. What happened to it?”

Another fan replied to the thread and explained that it was part of a blackmail storyline involving the brothers.

One fan explained: “David had blackmailed Nick (who’d stolen £80,000 from Audrey) into giving him some of the stolen cash to start the business which was called Trim Up North; when they were eventually caught out, David decided to transfer ownership to Audrey to make amends, also forcing Nick to sign over his share.

“Audrey put Maria in charge but eventually in 2023 Audrey was forced to sell Trim Up North as she urgently needed the money to buy back her home after she was conned by Stephen.”

Another added: “It lasted for about 4 years which is a fair amount of time for a set, though nowhere near as long as some of the other ones.”

“Poor Aud getting conned left right and centre by family members,” a third chimed in.

According to the Coronation Street Fandom, the barber was put up for sale in November 2023 and sold in January the following year.

David now works with his grandma at her own salon.

Coronation Street boss Iain MacLeod spoke about the barbershop storyline back in 2018, revealing: “One of the key things that has changed in Manchester is vape shops and barbers and it felt like having a hipster barbers totally plays into David and Nick’s idea of themselves as upwardly mobile young gentlemen.

“It’s also a place for our young cast to go in and drink beer but characters like Ken and Roy would also go in, thinking it was an Edwardian throwback.

“I want somewhere where you have Roy and Adam in adjacent chairs, shooting the breeze.”

He added: “A secret emerges after the New Year, which proves so corrosive that they end up hating each other more than they ever have.

“We’re likening it to Cain and Abel – one of them isn’t going to kill the other, but they’ll come pretty close in how much they come to loathe each other.

“It starts in January and plays out over the next 12 months.”
