And he knows plenty about feeling betrayed, after splitting with his girlfriend, actress .

She immediately began dating , around the time Mr Bean funnyman’s marriage broke up in 2014, then they had a baby together three years later.

But James only discovered exactly what happened by reading The Sun.

He said: “I got left for Mr Bean. I found out a year after we split up. I opened the newspaper and there was a story. No one else in the history of time has ever been left for Mr Bean.”

In one of his stand-up routines, he added: “I’m a saint to have kept this in the back pocket so long. It’s my job to say things that are funny and the funniest that ever happened to anyone, happened to me. I put it on the back-burner out of respect.”

He says he saw Louise — whom he had been living with after two years toget-her — grew more distant in 2013.

That was when she had begun appearing with Rowan in West End play Quartermaine’s Terms.

Johnny English and actor left his wife and mum of his first two children, make-up artist Sunetra Sastry, after 24 years and moved in with Louise.

She gave birth in December 2017 to his third child, Isla, who is now eight, and Rowan   took a year off to raise “Baby Bean” while Louise — who played in Channel 4 royal satire The Windsors — focused on her acting.

Meanwhile poor James was left looking at “Daddy Bean” wherever he turned.

He said: “Until you get left for Mr Bean, you don’t realise how frequently he pops up. There’s a shop two streets from my house that sells masks of his face. There’s nowhere where I’m going to go that he’s not there.”

I’ve a feeling you’ll be safe in , James.
