Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Saliu, the Chief Imam of Ilorin, has passed away at the age of 75.
Born in 1950 in Ilorin, Kwara State, Sheikh Saliu dedicated his life to Islamic scholarship and emerged as one of the most respected religious leaders in the region.
He was appointed the 12th Chief Imam of the Ilorin Emirate in 1983 and served in this role for over four decades.
During his long tenure, he was widely admired for his profound knowledge of Islamic teachings, steadfast leadership in religious matters, and unwavering commitment to promoting peace, unity, and religious tolerance among both Muslims and the wider community.
