LONDON rivals Chelsea and Tottenham clash in Thursday's Premier League showdown at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea vs Tottenham preview
The Premier League's midweek fixtures conclude with a feisty London derby between Chelsea and Tottenham at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues enter the contest as odds-on favourites to clinch maximum points and strengthen their bid for Champions League football next season.
But it's hardly a forgone conclusion given their recent form.
Yes, Chelsea did enjoy a run of four successive victories in all competitions before a lacklustre 1-0 defeat to Arsenal before the international break.
But two of those wins were in the Conference League against FC Copenhagen, while the other two came against relegation-bound Leicester and Southampton.
Enzo Maresca's side are still clinging fourth position despite taking just six points from a possible 15 over their last five league matches.
But they need to take three points to stave off the likes of Manchester City, Newcastle and Brighton – who are all within striking distance.
The stats make for good reading if you're a Chelsea supporter.
Chelsea have lost just one of their last 12 Premier League games against Spurs (W9 D2), winning the last three in a row by an aggregate score of 10-4.
They've also won more Premier League games (36) and scored more Premier League goals (120) against Tottenham than they have vs any other opponent.
For Ange Postecoglou and Spurs, it’s been a season to forget.
Sitting in the bottom half of the table, they find themselves 10 points adrift of the top ten and a whopping 17 points clear of the relegation zone.
With their domestic campaign effectively over, their focus is now shifting towards European competition, where they face Eintracht Frankfurt in next week’s Europa League quarter-final.
Compounding their struggles, Tottenham have been woeful in London derbies this season.
No team has earned fewer points in capital clashes, with Spurs losing five of their nine encounters (W3 D1).
Postecoglou himself has admitted that a significant portion of the fanbase has lost faith in his leadership, and a poor result at Stamford Bridge will only increase the pressure.

Win to Nil
As mentioned, Chelsea have won more Premier League games (36) and scored more Premier League goals (120) against Tottenham than they have versus any other opponent.
The Blues have also won each of their last four Premier League games at Stamford Bridge, the last two of which while also keeping a clean sheet.
They've not lost a home clash against Spurs in any of the last nine, and FIVE of those matches saw the visitors fail to get on the scoresheet. Ange Postecoglou has also lost all three of his Premier League meetings with Chelsea â the only side he has faced without yet picking up a point in the competition.

Back with a bang?
Senegal forward Nicolas Jackson should return to the starting XI having returned to full training over the international break.
Against no other side does Nicolas Jackson have more Premier League goals than his four against Tottenham. He's actually scored over 47% of his Premier League goals in London derbies (11/23) and should be raring to go against a side who've managed ONE clean sheet in their last nine away games.
