SKY’s blockbuster new divorce drama War is inspired by Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis’ messy split.

The writers’ imaginations were fired by a real-life event which happened after the collapse of the showbiz couple’s seven-year engagement in 2020.

No spoilers, but I can reveal their break-up is reflected by a shocking flashpoint in episode one of the eight-parter, co-produced by Sky.

War, which drops here on October 2, stars as tech tycoon Morgan Henderson, who spectacularly splits from his movie actress wife Carla Duval, played by .

At the series premiere in London this week, Sienna said: “It’s awful and it’s based on a real-life event we’re all probably familiar with. I think Carla probably thinks that (the divorce) will be a little bit messy, that she’ll get what she asks for. But at that moment, she decides that, it’s too late.”

The fictional flashpoint, devised by cut-throat lawyers as two legal firms go head-to head, will likely stun viewers almost as much as the orchestrated one-night stand used as evidence of infidelity.

Dominic said: “Even Morgan is stunned, but it kicks the whole thing off. The difference between love and war is on a knife-edge and he navigates that. The honey trap’s the first shot, but what he does on the declares war.”
