MOSCOW city centre has reportedly been rocked by three powerful explosions.

Footage posted to social media shows thick black smoke billowing from buildings.

The explosions reportedly struck beneath Afimall City shopping center in central Moscow.

Sources close to the Kremlin said the origin of the blasts was a car in the mall's underground parking garage, which then sparked the blaze.

Authorities have reportedly not ruled out sabotage and terrorism behind the explosions.

It is not yet clear whether anyone was inside the car when it blew up.
