Oyo State chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) has enjoined members to resist antics of ‘desperate politicians’ ahead of the forthcoming bye-election in Ibadan North Federal Constituency.
The party alleged that some influential politicians have concluded plans to impose their stooge on the people of the federal constituency.
APC chairman in the state, Olayide Abas made the assertion on Tuesday.
DAILY POST reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed Saturday, 16th August 2025, as the date for the bye-election in Ibadan North Federal Constituency.
The election follows the death of the last occupant of the seat, Hon. Musliudeen Olaide Akinremi, who died in July last year.
Oyo APC chairman, Abas, spoke in Ibadan, the state capital, when he received the party’s candidate, Adewale Olatunji, ahead of the election.
Our correspondent reports that Olarunji was accompanied by the executive committee members of the party from the federal constituency.
Abas while addressing the gathering explained that APC cannot afford to lose the federal constituency.
Abas said “So, we are using opportunity to make a strong appeal to the electorate in all the 12 wards of Ibadan North Local Government Area which doubles as a Federal Constituency to resist the antics deceitful political players who are now desperate to present their lackey as the successor to the late Akinremi.”
