Accident Overview

At least seven individuals have lost their lives, and 11 others have sustained injuries after an intercity bus collided with a lorry on a motorway.

The incident occurred when the coach crashed into the articulated truck, which had come to a stop due to a blown-out tyre.

Victims and Emergency Response

Footage from the scene revealed that the front right section of the bus was completely crushed.

The collision took place around 90 kilometres west of Gaziantep, Turkey.

According to state media Anadolu, citing the governor’s office, all deceased and injured individuals were passengers on the bus.

Efforts to identify the victims are currently underway.

The lorry driver, who survived the incident, has been taken into custody as police have closed the road.

Previous Incidents

Last year, ten people were killed and an additional 39 were injured in a similar incident that caused a massive pile-up on a busy motorway.

Reports indicated that the passenger bus skidded into the opposite lane during rainy weather conditions.

Emergency services, including police, ambulances, and fire engines, quickly arrived at the scene to conduct urgent rescue operations.

Meanwhile, in northern India, a serious accident occurred in Uttarakhand’s Tehri district, prompting an intensive rescue effort.

Officials reported that a bus carrying approximately 28 passengers veered off the road and fell into a gorge near the Kunjapuri–Hindolakhal route in the Narendranagar area, a well-known location in northern India.

The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) indicated that the district control room notified its Corps Control Room on Monday afternoon.

The alert warned that a passenger bus had gone off the hillside within the jurisdiction of the Narendranagar police station.

Additionally, last month, a devastating collision involving a motorbike resulted in serious injuries.

Passengers were heard pleading for assistance as flames engulfed the vehicle within minutes on a highway in India.

Many individuals on board were asleep and became trapped when the speeding bus crashed on a highway near Kurnool district in Andhra Pradesh, according to senior police officer Vikrant Patil.
