BUK Senate expels 57 students, rusticates

The Senate of Bayero University Kano (BUK) has approved the expulsion of 57 students over their involvement in examination misconduct.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Director of the Directorate of Examinations, Admissions, and Records (DEAR), Malam Aminu Wada Kurawa.

According to the statement, the decision was taken during the Senate’s 427th meeting held on September 10, 2025.

According to the university, the move was in line with the General Examination and Academic Regulations (GEAR), which guide both undergraduate and postgraduate studies.

“The Senate has approved the expulsion of 57 students for their involvement in various forms of examination misconduct,” the statement said.

The university also confirmed that eight other students were rusticated while two were cleared of all allegations.

The statement further explained that the case of one student, Yusuf Muhammad Sani was deferred.

The Senate Business Committee (SBC) has been directed to carry out further investigations and report back for consideration.
