Brian McFadden Opens Up About His No-Contact Rule with Ex-Wives and Responds to Wedding Invite Controversy

AS a Westlife heart-throb, Brian McFadden sang chart-topping ballads about romance and lost love.

But off stage he has struggled to maintain relationships with two women who were once central to his life — his ex-wives.

In an exclusive interview, the singer reveals that he has no contact with — with whom he has daughters , who has just had a baby.

said: “I don’t speak to Kerry any more. We don’t need to.

“Our kids are all grown up now, they’re adults, so there’s no reason to be in contact any more, unless they get married.

“When they get married, obviously I’ll have to speak to her that day, but that’ll be it.”

a former PE teacher, in an intimate beachside ceremony in Cornwall last summer.

It was attended by Molly and Lily, but neither ex-wife.

, who has just had her fourth child with star , recently blasted Brian for not inviting her.

She said on her podcast, My Therapist Ghosted Me: “I did find it incredibly rude that he didn’t invite me actually, and that is why we don’t talk.”

But Brian has hit back, saying the two stopped speaking long before then.

He added: “It’s not the normal thing to do is it, to invite your ex-wife to your wedding?

“We haven’t spoken in a long time, but why would we?

“We’re both married to other people and have children and families. Why would you bother speaking to your ex? It doesn’t make any sense.

“There were a lot of people not invited to my wedding. I had a lot of friends that were quite annoyed that they didn’t get an invite as well, but we just wanted a small, personal wedding.”

Dublin-born Brian shot to fame in 1998 as a member of the Irish boy band .

The group sold 12.5million albums in the UK and had 14 No 1 singles, including Flying Without Wings, Swear It Again and Uptown Girl.

Their ballad Against All Odds, which featured , went straight to the top of the charts in September 2000.

But Brian quit in 2004, and in 2016 he formed with former singer .

Ten years on, the duo have just announced a spring 2027 UK tour to follow on the heels of their autumn shows which begin next month.

The concerts will see them perform a mixture of their hits, including Boyzone songs No Matter What and All That I Need.

Two Westlife tunes that will not feature, however, are their covers of Mandy and Miss You Nights.

Brian revealed: “There were a few Westlife songs that I didn’t like.

“Miss You Nights by Cliff Richard. I’m not a massive fan of Mandy either. I love the original Westlife songs. It was the weird covers that Simon Cowell made us do that I’m not a fan of.

“I remember us having these arguments at the very end. We’d go away and make this incredible original album of Westlife songs and then Simon would come in and make us do cover versions.

“I wish we’d been a bit more adamant, but it’s hard to argue with someone like Simon, because he’s so powerful.

“And you had to believe in him, because everything he did at the time turned to gold.”

have made two albums as Boyzlife and released the single Chills earlier this year.

But Brian said their new music would not feature heavily in the show, explaining: “It’s a night of nostalgia. It’s mainly all the Westlife and Boyzone stuff. We do throw in a couple of new songs, but we’ve always said that there’s nothing worse than going to see your favourite band and they don’t do the hits and all they do is all the new stuff.

“Nobody wants to hear that. You want to hear the stuff you know. So we don’t force our new music on to people. That’s not what our show is about.”

Today Brian is only in contact with one of his former Westlife bandmates, .

He has lost touch with .

He said: “It’s not that we’re not friends, but we just don’t keep in contact. We’ve all got different circles of life now. If we all got together and did a one-off show I’d be delighted to do it, but it’s not on the cards.

“I speak to Nicky all the time and it’s nothing we’ve ever discussed. I left Westlife in 2004. It’s 22 years ago. It’s a long time.”

While Boyzlife play to packed audiences, Brian says he is no longer mobbed by screaming fans.

He admitted: “It’s a much easier life now. When I was in Westlife I couldn’t go to the shops, that’s died off now. I can go to Sainsbury’s and do my weekly shop with my daughter and I’ll be left alone.

“A lot of younger people wouldn’t know who we are and older people are too old to chase me.

“They still scream when we walk out on stage, but then they’re out of breath so they sit down and have a listen.”

Away from singing, Brian reveals that he was approached to take part in this year’s , after appearing in the 2025 Strictly Christmas Special.

It could have led to an awkward run-in with another ex — Aussie actress and singer — who is signed up to the 2026 series.

He said of his Strictly experience: “I really enjoyed it and they asked me about doing it this year. I couldn’t because I’m on tour with Boyzlife this autumn.

“We have spoken and I’ve said yes, I possibly would do it, but I wouldn’t be able to do it until maybe if I retired from singing and I could devote myself to it.”

Instead, reality TV fans will see Brian heading to Canada later this month for the Wild Frontiers special alongside his Boyzlife bandmate Keith, which will air next year.

Brian now lives near Manchester with Danielle and their five-year-old daughter Ruby. And he says that fatherhood is different this time around.

“He explained: “When I had Molly and Lilly, I was only a kid. I was in my early 20s and touring with Westlife, so I missed a lot of the good stuff — their first steps, their first words.

“Now I’ve got balance in my life. We’ve got 80 shows on this Boyzlife tour, but we’ve split it up into three parts.

“I remember in Westlife doing 85 shows back to back. Now our families come first, so we only do gigs Thursday to Sunday, so that we can be at home for half the week.

“So I get to do things I never got to do with my first two children.

“I do the school run every day and I take my daughter to gymnastics and swimming.

“All the things that I missed out on with my first two girls, I’m getting to finally experience — the joys of fatherhood.”
