The unexpected sparring partners clashed in the snow at Wrocław Zoo in Poland.
At the start of the encounter, Maruśka nodded her head up and down twice, a gesture that would intimidate even the bravest of souls.
Despite this, the pint-sized male deer accepted the challenge and charged forward without any fear.
Launching himself head-on, the deer and Maruśka collided heads before retreating from each other.
As they prepared for the next round, Maruśka playfully jumped between her front legs.
The pair gently bumped heads again before stepping back from one another.
In their third round, the video depicts Maruśka making it appear as if they were playfighting.
Throughout the entire encounter, the deer never shied away from the confrontation.
Keeping his head low, he eventually emerged victorious.
The triumphant deer stood in the shared enclosure before the video ended.
The footage was shared on social media by zoo staff, accompanied by the caption, “Someone forgot to look in the mirror this morning!”
A staff member remarked that Maruśka had “the patience of a saint” and explained:
“His partner is in heat, and the bachelor is full of testosterone,” they stated about the little creature.
“He needs to expend his energy and assert his dominance — even if his sparring partner weighs 1.7 tons.
“Who would have imagined such a warrior could be hidden in that tiny body?”

This species is a small, reddish-brown deer native to southeastern China and Taiwan.
They are commonly referred to as “barking deer” due to their distinctive dog-like vocalizations.
The deer are highly adaptable and thrive in various habitats, from snowy temperate forests to subtropical jungles.
